Powhiri recount

Powhiri recount
It was the biggest day for Christ the King because it was the
powhiri for our new principal and new teachers. As the guests
arrived they were greeted with the song He honore. As everyone
settled down, Father Peter gave a greeting in Maori.

As time passed the new staff members started to introduce
themself. When the teachers finished, it was finally Mr Hadnett’s
turn to speak. He talked about what a privilege it was to be the
principal and he also thanked the people who helped him become
principal.

Soon after the guests sang Mo maria while standing up.
Within minutes they were finish singing and Carolyn and Michael
gave Mr Hadnett lays. Meanwhile the whole school sand E toru nga
mea. Room 2 led the song and the rest of the school echoed.

Near the end of the Powhiri the whole school sang E minaka ana
and the room 2 girls did the actions. Most of the girls were really
nervous when everyone was looking at them. Eventually people
started leaving and the school started to sing E Toru nga mea.
Since the powhiri was 30 minutes long we got an earlier lunch
time.
